Block systems and poured concrete

The look is a choice. The footing, the steel, the drain, and the surcharge are the structure.

This is an independent referral guide. It connects homeowners with independent providers and may receive compensation. It is not a licensed contractor and it does not do the work.

Segmental landscape block sold for low garden edges is a different product from a structural wall holding a driveway. If a bid jumps from one to the other without explaining the load, ask why.

Finish is the last decision

Stucco, integral color, and stone veneer change the look and the weight. Some veneers need a ledger or a thicker wall. In the Old Escondido Neighborhood, a street facing wall can also be a planning question, not only a structural one. Ask before you pick a showpiece face.

Questions on this service

Is block always easier on a tight lot?

Block can arrive in smaller loads than a concrete truck, which helps some yards. It still needs a footing, grout, steel, and drainage. Easier delivery is not a lighter design.

Do either of these skip a permit?

The material does not create an exemption. Height from the bottom of the footing, surcharge, and the city's current guideline decide the review.

Describe the wall when you are ready
